Questions about our solutions
We are preparing for a grant application, can Myrtleed Innovation help?
We don't write or advise on how to write grant applications. However, our Market Intelligence reports provide the market, industry, and competitive data that funders typically require, and our Business Planning solution strengthens your business readiness and development activities. These solutions are useful when preparing for grant applications, during grant projects to strengthen work package results, or simply at any stage of your commercialisation journey.
What technology readiness levels (TRL) do you work with?
Myrtleed Innovation works at the earliest stages of research and new technology commercialisation. The technologies we support are often somewhere in the range of TRL 1–4. We can also support more mature deep tech ventures with technologies at higher technology readiness levels.
How long does it typically take to complete an intelligence report?
The timeline varies depending on the package and scope of the project. A Light market screen report typically takes 2–3 weeks, while our more comprehensive Base and Plus reports may take 6–8 weeks to complete due to the extensive research and stakeholder interviews involved.
What kind of technologies do you work with?
We work with a wide range of deep tech areas including energy, materials, chemicals, quantum technology, artificial intelligence, medtech, and semiconductors. Our team has expertise in commercialising complex scientific innovations across multiple industries.
How do your intelligence reports differ from typical market research?
Our intelligence reports go beyond generic market research. They include focused stakeholder interviews with potential customers and industry experts, deep technical understanding of your innovation, and custom recommendations specifically for deep tech commercialisation. We understand both the technical and business sides of bringing complex innovations to market.
How does a typical project work?
Every project begins with an initial briefing where we learn about your technology, goals, and target areas. From there, our team conducts desk research and stakeholder interviews tailored to the chosen package. We compile our findings into a comprehensive intelligence report and present the results to you, including actionable recommendations for next steps.
What is the relationship between Market Intelligence and Business Planning?
Market Intelligence is the foundation. It maps out your market landscape, competition, and commercial opportunities. Business Planning builds on those insights and helps you develop a go-to-market strategy, business model, and investor-ready materials. Business Planning is available as an add-on once a Market Intelligence report has been completed.
Can you support EU research & innovation consortiums (e.g. EIC Pathfinder, EIC Transition)?
Yes. We regularly support work packages related to market validation, commercialisation strategy, and business development within Horizon Europe projects. Whether you are coordinating an EIC Pathfinder or Transition project, we can deliver the commercial intelligence your consortium needs to satisfy deliverables and strengthen exploitation plans.
How do you work with innovation offices and technology transfer offices?
We partner with university innovation offices and TTOs to support their researchers and students. Typically, the office engages us on behalf of a research team, and we deliver intelligence reports and business planning that complement the office's own advisory services. We adapt our process to fit existing support programmes and can work within frameworks such as Vinnova's Verifiering för Tillämpning (VFT).
Can we use grant money to pay for your services?
The short answer is: it depends on the grant and your project plan. For research commercialisation-oriented grants, such as EIC Pathfinder, EIC Transition, Energimyndigheten's Utveckla en affärsidé, or Vinnova's Innovativa Startups, it is often permitted to hire external business experts for tasks like market validation or business planning. Always check the specific grant's terms and conditions and speak to the administrating body before committing.
Do you work with international clients?
Yes, we work with clients globally. Our team has experience in international markets across Europe, North America, and beyond, allowing us to provide valuable insights regardless of your location or target market.
What if we are at a very early stage with our technology?
All our intelligence report packages are specifically designed for early-stage innovations. If you are just starting to explore commercial avenues for your invention, our Light package is a great first step. Even with limited data, we can help you understand potential applications, test your initial assumptions, and provide guidance on the next steps in your commercialisation journey.
Do you sign NDAs to protect our intellectual property?
Yes, we always sign NDAs before discussing any confidential details about your technology or innovation. We understand the sensitivity of early-stage deep tech inventions and take intellectual property protection very seriously.
